Methods and boundaries
What does Hide’s evidence actually prove?

Ask about a method, source or limitation. Hide distinguishes an observation from a verified outcome and an unknown from a pass.

General information from an AI assistant, not a real check. Private by design, never sold or used for training.

Hide Check benchmark

Identity discovery benchmark

This public benchmark reruns labeled synthetic search results through the identity gate used by Hide. A candidate needs a current or former name plus an independently matching location, organization, address, email or phone clue before a person is asked to review it.

Sources covered

Hide uses a contracted public-search index to run separate, Germany-focused passes. This is not direct or exhaustive access to every register, directory, archive or document. An unavailable pass remains a visible coverage gap; it is never reported as no exposure.

Sent to the public indexBroad identity context

Current or former name, City or former city when supplied, Company, organization or public role when supplied.

Compared only inside HideExact private clues

Exact address, Email address, Phone number. These are never used as provider search queries.

Never treated as proofA same name or missing result

Every candidate needs independent corroboration and the person's confirmation.

What Hide deliberately does not search
  • Private accounts, paywalled records or data obtained by bypassing access controls
  • Purchased criminal-market, credential or dark-web datasets
  • Face recognition, voice matching or location inference
  • Removal from a statutory register when publication remains legally required

Source-specific search passes

A discovery does not rely on one broad query. With both city and company context, the current plan runs 30 bounded public-index passes. Named registers, directories and people-search services are queried separately; documents are separated into PDF, Word and spreadsheet families.

Focused passes by source. n = 30.

Test cases

The cases cover German register and directory results, Impressum pages, public websites, indexed documents, web archives and people-search services. They also test former names, former cities and employers, exact address, email and phone corroboration, and the rule that aliases or shared contact clues never identify a person by themselves. Negative cases include common names without corroboration, conflicting cities, longer names that merely share a prefix, city and company substrings, phone-number suffixes, partial addresses, surnames belonging to another person, mislabeled source hosts, private URLs and pages that only match a company.

Benchmark limitations

The set is a maintained regression test, not an independent certification. Live search precision and recall are not published because synthetic search snippets cannot establish live index coverage or real-world identity prevalence. Real candidates still require the person's confirmation, and Hide separately measures the false identity-match rate from reviewed product outcomes.
